San Jose
The capital city of
San Jose boasts an average temperature of 72 degrees F year
round. The suburbs of San Jose claim to have the "best
climate in the world" - a perpetual spring. The northwestern
area of the country is generally more arid and the southern
zone experiences a rainy season for several months of the
year.
Dominical
Dominical is in the
southern Pacific zone of Costa Rica. Located at
approximately nine degrees latitude, the weather is
tropical. Temperatures do not vary much from month to month
(75 to 85 degrees F. year round).
As in other
countries in the tropics, there are two predominant seasons.
June through November is the winter season. Mornings and
early afternoons are sunny, with rain showers occurring in
the late afternoons and evenings. Temperatures are generally
in the cooler range during the winter months. While rains
may be heavy, hurricanes are very rare on the Pacific coast
of Costa Rica. December through May is considered the summer
season. Rain may occur from time to time, but the weather is
generally dry and warm. Regardless of the season, exposure
to the sun can be intense and sunscreen and protective
clothing are highly recommended.
