To Dominical

Getting to Dominical is easy. You can hop on a local 40-minute flight from San Jose to Palmar Sur via either SANSA (from San Jose International Airport) or via Nature Air (San Jose Municipal Airport).

Flights normally arrive at Palmar Sur in the morning. At the Palmar Sur Airport, we will have a rental car arranged for your arrival, or a private car arranged to take you on the 40 minute scenic ride to the resort.

If you have more time and wish to explore some of Costa Rica’s scenery, you may want to rent a car at one of several international rental car agencies (e.g. Hertz, Budget, Avis) in San Jose downtown or at the Airport. The drive from San Jose to Dominical takes about three to four hours, depending on time of day and which of the two scenic routes you choose.

Go by way of Jaco and Quepos and enjoy the coffee plantations, ranches, and palm plantations – with a stop near Carara National Park and observe the crocodiles lazing in the river. Or, go south from San Jose, by way of historic Cartago, the scenic and lush mountain area of Chirripo, and onto southern Costa Rica’s gateway town of San Isidro.

Either way, you’ll enjoy Costa Rica’s natural diversity, as well as the opportunity to stop for some local cuisine and several arts and crafts shops.
